There’s a reason a cup of tea solves everything. It’s the whole ritual. A nice mug, the perfect brand, ice cold milk, holding it like a comfort blanket as you talk. We all have our routines and they involve our favourite mugs, our best coffee cup, the caffetiere we’ve had for ten years and can’t bear to throw away. Whether it’s your morning espresso, your cup of tea mid-afternoon or an iced coffee in summer, the mugs get us through our day. So it’s important to get the right ones to suit you.

Choosing the right mugs for you

If you’re a coffee enthusiast, nothing feels nice than a tall glass for a latte, a nice espresso cup for that morning pick-me-up, or a big wide cup for a frothy cappuccino. Make sure you buy the right mugs or cups for your caffeine habits. A proper tea set is a lovely addition to your kitchen if you mainline tea with your partner or housemate all day. A teapot is becoming a lost art, so take yourself back to your Granny’s house and instill a bit of nostalgia on your counter and save yourself a trip to the kettle after every single cup.

Finding the mug style

We all have the mugs we’ve accrued over the years from various promotional events, old jobs, gifts and novelty monstrosities given to us at Christmas, but when choosing mugs and cups for your home, try to tie them in with the style of your room. There’s no point having loud primary colours against a pastel kitchen that calms you as soon as you walk in. Choose something complimentary colour wise and most importantly, something you’ll want to actually drink out of and use every day. Mix it up a bit if you want and get different styles in the same shades, or different shades of the same mug to give your cupboards a bit of texture. Then there’s only one thing left to do - get the kettle on.
