We love mirrors as functional decorations because not only do they help us look our best, they reflect light, brightening up any room and making it feel that much more expansive. These hand mirrors are especially practical. Not only have our designers come up with a seemingly limitless number of ways to cleverly display them when we’re not using them, you can easily pick them up to help you check out those tricky hard-to-see areas. Naturally, we’ll need one in the bathroom to help with our morning routine and with getting ready for a night on the town, and maybe one for the bedroom so we can pick out earrings with confidence, but what about some creative places for these nifty things?

One place we’ve found them super helpful is in the foyer. If you already have a side table there for your keys and other doo-dads placing a mirror with a subtle brass or gold frame on it can help you make last minute adjustments before dashing out, plus it will help brighten up what is often a dim, dusky space. Another inspired choice is in the kitchen. Let’s face it, cooking can be messy: even with an apron and the utmost care, tiny splashes happen and can easily go unnoticed. So if you want to make sure you don’t have egg on your face--literally--before bringing out the masterpiece of your feast, try something in stainless steel or oak (to match your other kitchen fixtures).
