Hugh Lofting travelled far and wide as he served in the British Army during the First World War. He wrote to his children often, and instead of writing to them about the harrowing realities of the Great War, he wrote to them imaginative and illustrated stories which became the foundation of the Doctor Doolittle novels for children, which were first published in 1920.

The inspiration to the Polynesia scent is Doctor Doolittle's first animal friend, a parrot who speaks English and taught Doctor Doolittle the language of animals. The Voyages of Doctor Doolittle received the Newbery Medal in 1923 and the beautiful cover highlights the original and more sophisticated illustrations of Lofting.

Polynesia Scent is a smooth and elegant blend of soft floral notes with salty highlights. You'll notice crisp ozonic notes of sea salt right out, but right after that calming notes of jasmine, lily of the valley, and tonka bean take hold.
