These candleholders take a small diameter candle - those that are often referred to as votive candles (of the sort that you might light in a dusty Italian church as an offering). There is a large drip tray at the bottom of the candlestick and the candle itself is held aloft on a thin piece of metal. There is something slightly wonky about the elements of this candlestick and that adds to their charm. They are made from metal which has a brown/black colour and may have deliberate patches of rust.
