This book showcases extraordinary houses from around the world each of which demonstrates the art of renovating and reclaiming. The architects or designers behind the projects all share a passion for either old buildings or utilising redundant materials to new ends. This ethos translates, by and large, into homes that have character and individuality.

The title is divided into three chapters: reclaimed, revived and reimagined. The 'reclaimed' section includes examples such as a treehouse in Atlanta that is constructed from reclaimed doors and windows and a house in California that has reclaimed Boeing 747 wings as its roof. The 'revived' section contains Astley Castle near Nuneaton in Warwickshire which may be familiar to those who leaf through the Landmark Trust site and which was awarded a RIBA Stirling prize in 2013 for its architects Witherford Watson Mann. The final section includes a house made for Dinos Chapman and Tiphaine de Lussy in Kent from a disused reservoir and a chapel conversion in County Durham.
