Signal Box. The Grade II listed signal box for Birmingham New Street Station has become something of a brutalist icon since the demolition of Central Library. The corrugated concrete structure creates interesting shadows continuously through the day. And the thin rows give this building a stubby look, when in actual fact it is rather tall. This picture is made from 7 elements, each carefully cut out by hand and raised off the page. This creates subtle shadows and gives the image a greater sense of depth.
