Closed on Mondays - Dinah Casson

As I write this (March 2021) Museums worldwide have, of course, been closed for much longer than just Mondays and the way in which some of them have utilised more digital technologies in order to still reach an audience has come to the fore. This book explores exhibition design and how it is utilised to highlight specific objects and present them in a specific light. It also explores questions such as why most paintings are in carved, gilded frames regardless of artist, period or subject matter? why most contemporary art galleries have so few windows? and why do we keep all of this stuff?

Through the book it makes the reader question what we see in museums, how it is displayed and the consequences of those choices.
