Luke Eastop is the grandson of studio potter Geoffrey Eastop who produced pottery in collaboration with John Piper. Luke now works in the studio of his late grandfather in Hampshire.
Luke's work is made from a blend of clays and is thrown on the wheel and then trimmed and glazed by hand. They are matt on the exterior and glazed internally with a satin finish. Each piece is signed to the underside.
These crucible shaped pieces are a really pleasing object to hold in the hand and while they look great on a shelf they are also the perfect vessel for snacks or a bowl for those kitchen side essentials, lemons and limes.
We recommend washing these pieces by hand . . . . with care, and also recommend avoiding contact with particularly oily or spicy food which may stain the bowls - particularly the lighter coloured pieces.
If you are interested in learning more about Luke's grandfather's work there is a great series of interviews to be found on the Studio International web site.
We have this form in three different colours: grey, burnt red and light pink.
