We just love pendant lights, but then again, who doesn’t. Nothing can quite make a statement like a unique and striking ceiling light. Whether you want a sleek, sophisticated finish to your kitchen or a rustic, drop-down ornament to tie your living room together, we've got a wide range of designs to accommodate your deep, (soon to be not) dark desires.
If ceiling lights were men, then pendant lamps would be the knight in shining armour who swoops in to save your home from dreary lighting. A saucy light fixture that's secret power is the ability to jazz up any room it enters, you just can’t go wrong with a pendant light - trust us.
If you like copper, silver and gunmetal, then you’re in luck. Sotto Luce’s single drop oval-shaped pendant lamp and Dyberg Larsen’s silver, geometric pendant light will have you hot under the collar, and don’t even get us started on Zanolla’s bluish-grey, matte cylinder pendant for those with a penchant for gunmetal.
There’s lots of lighting ideas here, with a wide range of shapes, sizes, colours, materials and finishes available. That’s the beauty of it really - whether your home is big or small, industrial or rustic, colourful or colourless, you’re gonna find your next great furniture love here. We also offer fast shipping on each and every one of our pendant lights because we don't want anything to come between you and your new love.
How long is a piece of string? The answer to this question totally depends on the space you're working with and the look you’re trying to create. No one wants to walk through a hallway and hit their head on an overly droopy pendant lamp, whereas everyone wants a long vampy pendant lamp hanging over their dining table spotlighting scrumptious home cooked meals.
When it comes to choosing the length to hang your pendant light, a certain level of common sense is required. Make sure you’re aware of how the space you’re decorating will be used - if you’re looking to light up a living room you gotta make sure you keep the length reasonable as people will be doing all sorts of activities in there, whereas the territory above a dining table is a safe space where you can assume no one’s gonna hit their head on a long, dangly pendant lamp (unless you throw a particularly raucous dinner party).
Another thing to consider is how many pendants you’re looking to bundle up on one fixture. If you’re wanting to try out Sotto Luce’s glossy black triple drop pendant, then make sure you’ve got a big room for it because a small room would get swallowed by it. If you do, then you might as well go for the whole shabang and make your multi-drop pendant light nice and long for a really attention-grabbing look.
One thing to consider when choosing where to place your pendant light is what type of lighting you want to create. Unbeknownst to all, there are actually the three different types of lighting and what pendant light you should get depends on what type of lighting you want.
Ambient lighting (our personal fave) floods a room in a gorgeous, gooey glow, and is great for creating a relaxing environment in a bedroom or living room. Pendant lamps are great for creating this kind of lighting, so a bedroom or living room is a great place to pop some pendant lighting in. For an industrial chic bedroom, we recommend Dyberg Larsen’s minimalistic Paradice Naked Lamp pendant. The relatively short black cord with a dazzling incandescent filament bulb enclosed in a metal cage would be a real statement piece to hang above your bed (without any worries of hitting your head). Or, if you want to keep it traditional, Dreizehngrad’s simple white pendant light would be a lovely finishing touch to an elegant bedroom.
As you’ve probably already gathered, pendant lamps are pretty versatile. As well as creating room ambience, they can also be used to spotlight certain features you’re particularly proud of. If you’ve got a unique sculpture that you had to shift through piles of junk for then show it off, girl! Führ Home’s curved, steel pendant lamp would do a great job of creating this lighting, so too would Dreizehngrad’s glass, industrial pendant light.
Known as accent lighting, this is the kind of look that made pendant lights so famous. It seems the world’s obsession started when some clever clog hung a series of pendant lights over a countertop surface and realised that it was a look. Now you can do this in pretty much any room, so go crazy with a handful of Moustache’s ripple effect pendant lights (in yellow, of course) and dot them proudly above any countertop you can find.
The third and final lighting is task lighting, which as you probably guessed is lighting that helps you get stuff done. This is the sort of lighting that you’ll need in a study, and luckily we’ve got pendant lights that would look amazing hanging above a desk. Go for Vitamin’s navy pendant light with a knotted cord for a nautical flair, or Studio Vayehi’s bamboo pendant light for zen vibes.
As a final piece of parting wisdom, we’d just like to remind you that this is your home so don’t feel like you have to listen to what we say. These are all just friendly suggestions so if you want to have a long pendant lamp in your tiny bathroom then go for it - we’re sure it will look fabulous.
