Just because we walk all over it doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate it. Give your floor the chance to shine with one of our dazzling floor lamps. We’ve got a wide assortment of unique floor lamps that will serve a variety of needs. Whether you want to spotlight a dim corner in your kitchen, create some cosy living room ambience or generate some soft reading light in your bedroom, we’ve got a few gorgeous tricks hidden up our sleeves.
The beauty with floor lamps is that they’re super easy to install. Hold off on expensive builder fees or botched DIY jobs and simply plug in your new floor lamp. All you need is a plug socket and a floor, so get ready for some gorgeous lighting with minimal effort. Perfect for those who don’t want the faff of fitting a ceiling or wall light.
This also means that they are incredibly easy to move around. Just like a cat, these floor lamps have a lot of lives, and if you get bored of it in one room (which is a big, very unlikely if), then simply plug it into a different part of your home. A practical dining room spotlight can easily be turned into a fashionable furnishing for your living room, whilst a much needed office lamp can also double up as a mood setting light for your dining room.
For an extra stress reliever - all our floor lamps come with fast shipping so just sit back, relax and get ready for some beautiful lighting to come your way.
There are several things to consider when choosing a floor lamp. Number one: how much space have you got to play with? If you’ve got heaps of it, then get a floor lamp that sprawls out and lights up every corner of the big room you’re decorating. Go for Look4Lamps’ mahoosive, industrial tripod floor lamp if this is the case for you, and bend it out so the light can emanate. Or, if you’re in the market for space-saving furnishings, then Teo’s upright glass floor lamp with a matte black frame would look super stylish in a modern, small bedroom.
Another thing to consider is the kind of lighting you’re after. If you want direct task lighting to help you do, well, tasks - then Look4Lamps’ sandpaper grey spotlight would be great to have in your study, especially when it’s towering over a black metal desk. However, when it’s time to relax ambience is key. Tolhuijs’ floor lamps are great for flooding a room with a soft glow so beeline straight to them if you want to create some zen in your home.
Depending on how far along you are with your home decoration project, you might already have a lot of shizz crammed into your abode. If so, you’ll want to make sure your floor lamp is compatible with the overall aesthetic. If you’ve got industrial furnishings in your home and a neutral colour scheme filled with black, whites, greys and copper, then Look4Lamps’ grey floor lamp with exposed wiring will slot in quite nicely. Then again, you might be more swayed by modernist geometric shapes and clean, elegant finishes. If this is the case, then Teo’s elongated floor lamp with an oval, glass pendant will make you hot and heavy.
The long and short of this is basically wherever you feel needs a little va-va-voom. Lighting can really affect the mood and feel of a room, and if you still don’t feel quite right about your living room after months of meticulously picking out sofa fabrics, bespoke furnishings and plush rugs, then our bet is that you still haven’t nailed the lighting.
Arched floor lamps are great for hanging over areas that require good lighting. For example, Look4Lamps’ crane floor lamp in vintage green would look swell dangling over a sofa or armchair, providing ample reading light whilst simultaneously adding an industrial touch to this nook of your home. Arched lamps also work well hanging over beds and desks - so rest assured you’ll get lots of use of it.
Also, don’t think that you can only have one floor lamp in a room. A killer look is to have two floor lamps at either side of a room’s statement piece. So, in your bedroom this would mean having one at each side of your bed, whilst in a living room this would mean having one on either side of a sofa or fireplace. You could also have them spread further apart, and have one lighting a corner of your office and the other directly lighting your workspace - it’s completely up to you. We recommend going for two of the same for this look, but you could try out two different ones if the colour/ style matches.
Now for some practicalities. Make sure you are conscious of any other lighting in the room when you’re positioning your floor lamp. Floor lamps shouldn’t be placed behind televisions as the lighting will really mess with the T.V’s glare and make for some annoying lazy, hangover film nights. Also, be sure to look out for high traffic areas of your home. This basically means don’t whack a floor lamp somewhere people will trip over it or bang their head - like in the middle of the cooking area in your kitchen, or in the passage between the door and the sofa in your living room. But that’s (hopefully) common sense.
At the end of the day, let your gut feeling do the talking - if it’s telling you to put your floor lamp in a certain spot then go for it, even if it breaks all the rules. When it comes to your home decor it’s all about making number one (you) happy.
