A perfect vase is like a favourite pair of heels. You want them to make a statement, and of course be endlessly charming, but they’re also part of an outfit and anything too flashy can distract from the gorgeous dress you’ve picked out, or your heirloom pearls. That’s why we love this selection of white vases. White is striking—always—but it’s never busy, and in that way it’s an ideal team player when it comes to home decor.

If you find yourself drawn to darker tones in your home, you may struggle to brighten things up. With a lot of earth tones and enigmatic greys and blacks in a space, you probably won’t want to throw a bunch of neon yellow and green in just to bring the energy levels up. A set of slender vases in a beige or a yellowy cream can bring just that touch of life to a space to make it feel sharp yet relaxed, especially when filled with dried grasses or flowers. A wool throw in a neutral grey with pink or periwinkle accents can help with this accommodating vibe, especially if they’re matched with gentle ink brush prints.

These vases also look wonderful next to tile, granite, and marble making them perfect for the bath and the kitchen. We totally recommend ceramic vases if you’re going to go in this direction and try to match as closely as possible the shade of white of the stone or tile with the piece. Instead of using colour to draw a visually entrancing contrast here, use shape: try something curvy and suggestive of flowing water.
