Raise your hand if the hallway is the hotspot of your house—that’s what we thought. Not exactly the most popular opinion. In fact, chances are, you've put a lot less effort into decorating your home's hallways than you have everywhere else, but let’s reconsider that. One of the most underrated areas of the home, the humble hallway is overdue for an upgrade and we know just the thing.

A hallway table is a smart way to transform this previously unused strip of square footage into a much more functional part of your home, and stylish too. Setting the tone and speaking to your design sensibility, a console table is one way to adorn your perimeters with some much-needed pizzazz. Ideally placed at the end of a narrow corridor, or along the side if you have the space, a console is the perfect location for a welcoming vase full of fresh flowers, a stack of coffee table books, and some baskets underneath for additional storage. Pair with a beautiful framed mirror and watch as this previously cramped space suddenly opens up—you’ll be amazed at what a difference a few pieces can make.

Another option for under-utilised hallways is a make-shift home office. If space permits, you can place a small, narrow desk at either the end or edge of your hallway, et voila! A nonchalant work surface you can also use to display books, framed photographs, and so on. A table lamp is the perfect accent piece since it not only acts as task lighting when you’re seated but also adds more atmosphere than harsh overheads. Regardless of which route you take, these hallway tables will have you pacing back and forth in no time!
