David W J Lloyd

Born in Cardiff and based in the Vale of Glamorgan, I create multimedia works that bridge the ancient and modern through the lens of Welsh folklore, particularly the otherworldly realm of Annwn from the Mabinogion. Working across pencils, watercolors, digital media, and inks, I blend antique vernacular photographs with traditional and digital techniques to craft dark, humorous glimpses into a parallel universe where old religions and new ideas collide. My gothic-tinged art has garnered recognition through exhibitions at prestigious venues including London's gallery@Oxo, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Y Lle Celf (2019), The Royal Cambrian Academy's Winter Open (2022), and The Wales Contemporary (2022), establishing me as a distinctive voice in contemporary Welsh art exploring the intersection of collective memory and magical surrealism.
